Handy Calculations — Privacy Policy
Handy Calculations is an offline engineering reference and calculator app. This policy explains, plainly, what the app does and doesn't do with your data.
Overview
Handy Calculations (the "App") is a reference and calculation tool for downhole and fishing-tool engineering, built for use in the field, in the shop, or offline. The short version: the App's calculators and tables run entirely on your device, there is no account, and what you enter never leaves your device. The only time the App communicates over the network is through Apple's or Google's own store systems, to handle your subscription.
What the App Doesn't Collect
I do not collect, store, or share any of the following through the App:
- Personal information (name, email address, phone number, physical address)
- Account credentials — the App has no login or account system
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic data
- Advertising identifiers, or any data used for advertising or tracking
Any values you type into a calculator (depths, weights, pressures, dimensions, and so on) stay on your device. They are never transmitted anywhere, and I have no way to see them.
How the App Works
All calculations run locally on your device using data you enter directly. I run no server, database, or cloud service for the App, and it contains no analytics tools or advertising frameworks. The calculators and tables don't need an internet connection.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through StoreKit on iPhone and iPad, and by Google through the Google Play Billing Library on Android. When you buy, restore, or open the App with an internet connection, the App communicates with the store to check your subscription. Payment details and account information are handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies (Apple, Google). I never see your payment details.
On Android, the App saves your last confirmed subscription status on your device so that Pro features keep working offline. It also checks whether your device has a working connection so it can tell being offline apart from a subscription that has ended. That check stays on your device. Google Play may also verify that the Android App was installed from Google Play.
Apple and Google may give me sales and order records, along with statistics and crash information their platforms collect. I use these only to run and support the App, handle accounting, and fix problems.
Links and Support Email
Links to the Terms, this policy, and subscription management open outside the App, under the policies of the sites you visit. If you email me for support, I receive your email address and whatever you include, and use it only to respond.
Children's Privacy
The App is a professional engineering reference tool and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your region).
Changes to This Policy
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the App adds a feature that collects data — the updated policy will be posted at this same page with a revised effective date above.
